I receive a weekly email from the author of Atomic Habits, James Clear. It is called 3, 2,1, Thursday and contains 3 ideas, 2 quotes, 1 question. The above quote was the first one yesterday that was prefaced with, “A difficult lesson to learn.” It is so easy to look at someone else and the way they are living life and offer advice for where they can improve. It is so much more difficult to look at ourselves and see where the changes need to take place. It is one of two things. We either know that we have a problem and do not want to make the change or we have not come to the realization yet. If we are going to be improving ourselves, whether it be our health, finances, education, spiritual life, and so on, we need to be willing to let go of some of the distractions and stop justifying them. I think this pandemic time has allowed us to see what is truly important and what we can leave behind. The doing is not always that easy. For me, I think I would have to ask the question of someone really close to me and then be willing to accept their honest answer. Sounds challenging, but possible.
