I am a creature of habit. I have my “Get Ready for Work,” schedule, down to the minute. I know, some of you are thinking that I should be committed, while others, understand my routine. Lately, I have been feeling a little frustrated when my head hits the pillow at night. I know I did things that day. Especially, since my kitchen has never seen so much cooking or dishes, maybe ever! I remembered that I wanted to call my grandmother or tidy a shelf. Irregular, small jobs that are getting overlooked. I need to go back to the basics, of what keeps me organized and instils a sense of calm in my day. For me, that is making a list. It is not a minute by minute thing, but it does state the basics and specific things I want to get done. My list needs to be written on paper. I have many mental lists going on, but there is a lot of room for error if it is not written down. In my life at work, I am a daily list maker, and many times have beginning and end of day lists. Right now, in establishing a new “normal,” I know that making a list will bring me a sense of accomplishment each day. If something makes the list, the chances of it getting done are pretty high. Maybe making a list is not for you, but I can guarantee that with the dramatic changes to schedules, you have felt frustrated lately. Figure out what makes you calm and helps you to get through the day. I know tomorrows list will bring a smile to my face and a sense of fulfilment.
